Disney Junior Live: Disney Junior Dance Party Review

This summer, Disney debuted their newest Disney Junior Live show. Disney Junior Dance Party is now playing at Disneyland California Adventure Park. My toddlers were pretty big fans of the last show, so we couldn’t wait to take them to see the newest one! Ultimately, we all loved Disney Junior Dance Party. Although I’m no theatre critic, I wanted to review it for anyone curious about what’s new!

Characters are more interactive

Disney Junior Dance Party: Dance & Sing Along! features characters from The Lion Guard, Mickey & the Roadster Racers, Sofia the First, and Doc McStuffins. In the previous Disney Junior Live show, the characters onstage were large puppets that remained onstage. The Disney junior characters in Disney Junior Dance Party are now full-size. They make a grand entrance, dance onstage, and even interact with the guests in the audience, giving hugs and high-fives!

New original songs

Disney Junior Dance Party features the theme songs of Mickey & The Roadster Racers, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, and The Lion Guard. It also features some original songs performed by the hosts. It was really fun getting to hear the same familiar songs, complete with on-screen visuals. It was also fun to enjoy hearing some new songs.

Very engaging hosts

I’m always shocked by this, as you can see from my Sesame Street Live review, but these cast members can seriously sing and dance. Their performances were very authentic and they are extremely talented. The hosts gave stellar performances and were much more high energy and engaging than the previous Disney Junior Live shows. Although this program is largely geared towards a preschool audience, guests of all ages will enjoy this show, thanks to the hosts.

Increased audience participation

The performers come offstage to interact with the audience, which makes this show a lot more interactive. Also, something that really stood out to me in this show was a live camera that shows audience members onscreen in real time. The hosts walk through the audience with the camera and pan across the crowd. Other times, they invite kids to roar like the Lion Guard or clap and cheer for Mickey & The Roadster Racers live onscreen!

Same Disney Magic

The highlight of Disney Junior Live for my toddlers is the Disney magic that literally falls from the sky. Bubbles, confetti, snow and leaves burst onto the crowd below at various parts of the performance. It is so exciting for my little ones to look up and suddenly be surrounded by a flurry of snow or thousands of bubbles! No matter what Disney Junior Live show is being performed, you can expect plenty of Disney magic for your little ones and the whole family!

Well, now you know what’s new at Disney Junior Live! You should definitely consider making Disney Junior Dance Party a part of your Disney California Adventure Park vacation! Your little one will have a blast singing and dancing with their favorite Disney Junior characters. This show is a fun and entertaining show for the whole family!

I hope they update the Disney Junior Live! show at Disney World as well! I love that they are full-size characters instead of the puppets, and the addition of the Lion Guard is great as well. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this review. This sounds a lot better than the previous version. I wonder if they’ve changed it at Hollywood Studios in Florida also?

  3. Tara says:

How fun!! My daughter would love this! I need more time at the parks so that I can see and do everything!! Is that even possible?
