DIY bentonite clay hair mask

I’ve been looking for ways to detoxify my hair and scalp without stripping it of natural oils or using harsh shampoos. I read up on using Bentonite clay and I figured I’d give it a shot. I use it regularly to make face masks but had never tried a hair mask. Ultimately, it cleaned my hair and scalp and even refreshed my curl pattern. Definitely give it a try!

The ingredients are very simple: Bentonite Clay, Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut oil is optional. I used 100% pure bentonite clay that I bought on Amazon here. I also used organic virgin coconut oil, also from Amazon here.

Once you have all the ingredients, measure out some of the powdered clay. How much you use will depend on your hair length. Next, pour in the ACV and a splash of whatever oil you prefer. The texture should feel light and frothy, but look like thick mud.

Next, part your hair in 4 sections and apply the clay to your hair. Make sure to get it on your scalp! Once you have applied it, wrap your hair in cling wrap or put it under a plastic shower cap for 15-20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, rinse your hair and apply your regular conditioner. And Voila! Now my hair is clean and detoxified without using any damaging chemicals.

I bought the Bentonite clay here on Amazon, and got the Coconut oil and Apple Cider Vinegar at my local grocery store. This hair mask is easy to do, and a great addition to your self-care routine.
